The #1 Reason Why We Struggle

March 18, 2016

So many times I push through tasks and activities with all my might. Sometimes it takes everything in me to accomplish things that I should be able to easily complete and sometimes those same tasks are quick and easy. But most times, many things are a struggle. My patience, my focus, my kindness, and my effectiveness are always being tested and sadly, I tend to lose the fight or exert all that I have in the process of accomplishing things or even dealing with difficult people. The number one reason we struggle is because we do not ask for help from the right sources!

Recently, I had a major task to accomplish and normally, I would stress out and wear out my energy trying to get it done. But this time, I decided to solicit help. I sought the help I desperately needed and that made all the difference in my approach and my effectiveness of the task.

John 14:26 states “But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in My name, He will teach you all things, and bring to your remembrance all things that I said to you.”

The Holy Spirit is eagerly waiting for us to ask him for help. He wants to walk us through our daily decisions and activities and help us through the difficult situations. But we cannot receive help if we never ask. Instead of struggling with whatever you face, just ask the Holy Spirit for help.  The Spirit of God gives peace that is beyond understanding.  This not to say that everything is handed to us on a silver platter, but there is a grace that comes when the Spirit of God is leading and guiding our decisions and actions.

And sometimes as we pursue God’s supernatural help, we hear that voice on the inside saying “What makes you think He will guide you? Why would He help you when you ignored His voice before?” I’m so glad that God gives us grace and forgiveness. Jesus already paid it all for us. Beating yourself up only keeps you that much far from His presence and His voice.

Holy Spirit, help me to truly depend on your help as I face my day. I want to depend on you for both the simple and complex things I will encounter because Jesus has promised that the Holy Spirit would teach me ALL things and grant me peace in the process.
